Bracing herself before Nii, Faemydi watched as the terrifying creatures burst forth through the portal. The sound was of an army, but only two emerged. Nii stepped aside from behind the faerie and let loose a burst of magic that blinded everyone in the room. The skin tingled and the hears pounded with the sudden fury of the spell.
When Faemydi regained her sight, she beheld the house of Nii from a distance. Beside her stood the little leader and within the throne room marched the strange creatures. She recalled that the two beings had been of orange hue with blurred wings and six legs. Atop their heads were antennae and in their uppermost hands was a staff with a sharp tip. She sensed that both were female.
The glow of the vortex did not abate. Nii asked her what happened on the other side. She explained that the world she beheld was unknown to her and Blzzzrt had not been immediately visible. The colours were as reversed, both of land and sky. The Hive, too. There had been many hundreds, maybe thousands of the insect-like creatures.
They watched as the two creatures emerged from Nii's home. They surveyed the area, then seemed to stand guard, holding their lances upright with four "hands". Nii motioned for Faemydi to follow it around the house to the back. From there, they could see through a gap in the ceiling and the wall. Below them, inside the house, was the vortex. Faemydi gasped in shock as she saw three more insects around the portal, placing strange crystals around the opening. The crystals seemed to emit a energy that kept the vortex stable. More insect guardians came through and others returned. They had erected a permanent passage between worlds!
What terrible curse had she wrought upon these fair people! Nii could not perceive the nature of the creatures, but Faemydi could, as she felt the minds of all creatures, if she focused on them. Concentrating on one of the guards setting up another crystal, she learned that they were part of a military force. In fact, their whole race was one single army. This realm did not surprise them, which suggested to the faerie that they knew of other realms and even had experience travelling between them. One thought was present in all the minds of the Hymenopterans (as she felt they were known): servitude to the Empress Jennybee.
While Faemydi was listening to the minds of the guards, Nii hastened off towards the front of the house, where an outcry was heard. Some citizens had walked too near the home of Nii and seen the guards. Beset by sharp weapons, the small family of three did not know what to do. Springing forth from the side of the house, Nii disrupted the air around the Hymenopterans, causing their wings to fail. When the guards fell clumsily to the ground, Nii ushered the three Pimi-Mele away into the woods. Faemydi watched from the roof with grave concern. Nii had to protect its people. Faemydi had to stop both the Mrough and now the Hymenopterans.
